Gear.... Room 502 Smith Hall. Mrs Ward, will be making a "corner" for students to drop off fishing gear to store during the day. Drop off after 7:30am when the school opens and before classes start. Will use this area for bringing gear on the 19th as well as for mid week practices. Make sure if your storing your gear their, you thank her repeatedly for making room for us and be extremely courteous please. Working on practice schedule and will get out this week. Looking like Wednesday or Thursday after school for a few hours. Then each Saturday from Dawn to dusk, 3 students at a time with a sign up sheet for each time slot. Actual dates to come. Coach Freddy

Make sure you fully read the Athletic Contract. All rules will apply, Grades, Attendance, Behavior etc...
1 missed practice = can't participate in the next game.. much bigger deal than in other sports that have 12 to 16 games in a season. We only have 1 guaranteed game each for Varsity, JV1 and JV2.
Over the next week or so, you SHOULD study up by watching YouTube Videos on Drop Shotting and Damiki rig(also called Hovering a Minnow, Shaking a Minnow) as these are the 2 primary techniques that we will be concentrating on to prep for States. Also Texas rig, Wacky rig
Also YouTube and LEARN the Alberto Knot, the Uni Knot and the Palomar. These 3 knots will get you through every situation and is a must to learn and be proficient at.
Minimum gear you will need.
1. A Comfortable life Jacket, students are required to wear life Jacket no matter their age on the boat 100% of the time per NHIAA Rules. (I will carry at least 1 spare incase a student forgets theirs on a particular day).
2) A Spinning rod (doesn't have to be fancy, Walmart fine), Medium to Medium/Heavy 7' to 7' 6.
3) A Spinning reel, 2500 series size is best for line capacity.
4) 20 lb mainline braid of any brand.
5) Small spool of 12 lb fluorocarbon line to be used 8' at a time for a leader.
6) some #2 or #1 drop shot hooks (I like VMC Finnese Neko Hooks, its all I use).
7) 3/8oz skinny drop shot weights. Tungsten (no lead allowed in State of NH)
8) Berkley Flat Worm. Natural Shad color or Gobyashi. 3.6" version. Also Walmart.
9) Tackle box or tackle backpack.
Add ons if can but not necessarily needed. Drop shot will cover most everything for season.
A) Angler Tungsten Eclipse Swimbait Jig head in 3/8oz.
B) Freeloader in shad color.
Tacklewarehouse.com is where I get everything... fair Pricing, good selection, good stock, fair shipping. Not saying 75% of this couldn't be bought at Walmart or Bass Pro.
Local tackle shops are great as well to look around but are normally more expensive.
1st practice/meeting is on August 19th at 3:00pm, meeting in room 502.
Thank you.
Coach Schaaff.
